…this past weekend, the world celebrated the memory of one of the greatest guitarists that ever lived: Django Reinhardt. Born on January 23, 1910 in Belgium to a gypsy family, by his teens Reinhardt had chosen guitar as his life pursuit. While not as outwardly acknowledged as the likes of Robert Johnson or Chet Atkins, one listen to Django Reinhardt and it’s fairly easy to hear where much of the flash of modern guitar work originates.
