Dayton Dirt Collective Open House-TONIGHT

by admin | October 28th, 2009

ddc_logo…having dramatically affected the landscape of the Dayton music scene over the past 18 months, the lovable Dayton Dirt Collective is undergoing some dramatic shifts in management and policy. At the forefront of this shift you’ll find Jim Tarjeft, formerly of the Canon Art Collective. While the most obvious changes taking place have to do with the stage and performance space, there are a number of policies changing that will affect membership and show-goers alike. If you want to get the lowdown on all that’s happening, and possibly even get involved yourself, head on down to the Dayton Dirt Collective this evening for an Open House from 7-9 pm. Refreshments will be provided, as will music and dancing. Get dirty….

  1. can anyone who attended the open house please tell me the changes discussed about the DDC tonight? i wasn’t able to attend due to work.

  2. Thanks for posting this Kyle.
We had a fab time at open house.

Gary Lietzell (running for Dayton mayor) hung out with us for a couple of hours. This is going to be our next rock and roll mayor!
He was telling Don Thrasher and I how he grew up in England during the birth of the punk movement in the 70’s and was always getting beat up for being a Vespa riding Mod. (those of you up on your music history know that punks fed on the blood of Mods)
Anyway…he is so for Dayton music and appreciates what we are doing. I’m not a political person but I will suggest a vote for him next Tuesday!
Also- he has had a blog that I have read for a couple of years that some of you all might be interested in. He bought a crack house a half dozen years ago and just moved in it about 2 years ago. His crack house rehab is painfully documented in his blog:

And the topper on the open house cake of course was a sweet acoustic set by Dave Doughman!!! It is now going to be the DDC claim to fame!
Ladies and gentlemen, we are now on the international map of places to play in the WORLD. : )
Dave had a health “event” about 3 days ago that almost cost him the trip but he made it here on shear love of rock and roll and love for Dayton. He’s feeling well and sounding as excellent as ever!
Come have lunch with Dave and friends at his fave place to eat in the entire world, Flying Pizza on Main St. – downtown Dayton @ noon. (BYOS- buy your own slice)

See you all at the big show at CST tonight!
Can’t wait to see SMUG BROTHERS again. You just teased us at DMF, now we want it ALL!
