Poptek Announces Kris N. Song of the Week

…it seems as if those who enjoy working the lo-fi realm tend to favor quantity in place of quality. Luckily, fans of lo-fi appreciate that. Poptek Records has announced that Kris N. has amassed quite the stockpile of material that has never seen the light of day. Seems that much of it won’t even make the two album Poptek has slated for release from Kris N. As a result, the label has announced a new feature on their website: Kris N. Song of the Week. You can head over now and pick up the new track “Turning 31″, which is bouncy acoustic number with ruminations on the inevitable aging process. Be sure to check back weekly for more from Kris N. WWSU Puts Out Call for Locals

…since the 1980s, one of the sole radio outlets for Dayton musicians has been Wright State’s WWSU 106.9. As documented by the resourceful I Remember Dayton blog, the station has issued a number of 7″ and CD comps over the years that have broadened horizons for many locals. Well, the new program director, Johnathon Gallienne, has put out a call to all local musicans/bands for submissions to the station’s local catalog..

Richard Lloyd and The Sufi Monkey Trio/Halos Were Found at the Landing Site-Tonight @ Canal Street Tavern

…if you know much about the legacy of American punk rock, then tonight is an exceptionally rare opportunity to see one of the individuals responsible for the emergence of CBGB’s as the mecca of punk rock. Ex-Television guitarist Richard Lloyd will make a stop at Canal Street Tavern this evening along with The Sufi Monkey Trio, which also features ex-Television drummer Billy Ficca. According to reports, the band are performing some Television material, so this is great opportunity to get out and catch one of the guys who changed so much in the musical landscape.
